To many people, needles are scary. This fear might cause people to avoid dental work or health checks. It doesn’t help that the medication is typically injected in body parts that are sensitive to pain. Cooling the skin prior to injection can help reduce this pain, but most vapocoolants are cumbersome and may even cause adverse effects. 623 Medical, LLC has developed their own vapocoolant device which prevents any contamination of the vapocoolant.

Their sterilizable vapocoolant dispenser is made of a housing which stores the vapocoolant. The housing creates a hermetically sealed enclosure. To sterilize the device, prior to dispensing, the housing is hit with a high-energy radiation sterilization. This allows the vapocoolant to be dispensed without any microorganism contamination. To ensure this contamination is prevented, the device is single use so there can be no cross-patient contamination. After sterilization, the hermetic seal can be broken so that the vapocoolant can be applied as a mist. The vapocoolant creates an instant numbing effect that last for up to 1 minute, allowing for the injection to be completed with plenty of time.
