Georgia Patent of the Month – May 2021

Teachers are expected to keep track of attendance and grade records for each of their students. They typically manage this by manually entering each value into their system which can be very time intensive. GicSoft, Inc. has developed a voice-based grading system to help make teachers’ lives a little bit easier.

The voice-based grading assistant can receive audio commands and automatically act on them. Picture a SIRI type of AI, where you inform the device what you want and they provide. The device is capable of entering new or updated grades, as well as modifying other student or assignment data. Like most devices, the grading assistant can connect to your computer via Bluetooth or WiFi, and access the student records. The device uses a speech converter, natural language processor, virtual assistant service and other applications to process your commands and follow through. Applying technology to the simple nuisances in life is a great way to improve everyone’s quality of life, taking away the annoying tasks and leaving time for the more important things.

Are you developing existing software for a new application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
