Hawaii Patent of the Month – January 2021
For those of us who live in colder climates, we tend to think winter will never end. But we are almost in February, meaning warmer weather is right around the corner. And winter gives us a lot of time to plan for our summer vacations. Lucky for us, Hawaiian company, LightSUP Boards, LLC has developed an innovative new paddle board, for all you water enthusiasts out there.
If you’re an experienced paddle boarder, or you’ve never done it before, this board could be for you. The stand-up paddle board features an opening in the board so you can see what’s beneath you. But don’t worry, water can’t get through. The opening is a window with a transparent panel that is friction fit and sealed in the board; preventing seepage. This lets you enjoy your journey while watching the marine life underfoot. No more leaning over the board and falling off. And for added viewing pleasure, the board also includes light ports on the bottom of the paddle board to illuminate the water and let you see in darker conditions.
Are you adapting existing technology for a new application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
