Indiana Patent of the Month – June 2023

3Oe Scientific, LLC, an award-winning sci-tech company, has recently patented their design for an aqueous ozone generator. This technology is included in their novel design, referred to as Iggy™, and takes hand hygiene to a new level by combining water spray and aqueous ozone which acts as a natural disinfectant.

The system uses a power supply that provides the necessary electrical energy to operate the system. A controller is responsible for managing the operation of the replaceable ozone generator cartridge and ensuring precise control over the ozone concentration level. This controller also interacts with a memory device located within the cartridge, which stores crucial usage data.

A series of ozone quality sensors are positioned within the replaceable ozone generator cartridge. These sensors monitor and provide data on various parameters relevant to the ozone concentration produced by the cartridge. For instance, an oxidation-reduction potential sensor measures the oxidation-reduction potential of water downstream of the electrolytic aqueous ozone generator. By analyzing these sensor data signals, the controller can adjust the power level of the ozone generator power driver to achieve the desired ozone concentration.

The system also incorporates safety features to ensure reliable operation. For instance, if a fault is detected based on a comparison of the sensor data signals, the controller can initiate a safety shutdown of the replaceable ozone generator cartridge. This prevents any potential risks associated with faulty operation.

Additionally, the controller can determine the exhaustion of the replaceable ozone generator cartridge based on the usage data stored in the memory device. This feature allows users to easily track the lifespan of the cartridge and replace it when needed, ensuring consistent and effective sanitization.

The system’s intelligent control capabilities, precise monitoring, and advanced features make it an invaluable tool for a wide range of applications. Whether in healthcare settings, food processing industries, or general surface disinfection, the system developed by 3Oe Scientific offers an efficient, safe, and controlled method for delivering aqueous ozone sanitization.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
