In 2018, 10.5% of the population had diabetes in the U.S. alone. In addition to that, 1.5 million people are diagnosed with diabetes every year. Many people go undiagnosed for years and others are dangerously close – being diagnosed with prediabetes. Diabetes can happen suddenly, and you can even be born with it. It is a disease that is comorbid with many other afflictions, such as stroke, blindness, and heart disease. Diabetes affects the way sugars and starches are turned into glucose, which then requires you to take insulin injections to make that glucose available to the body. However, diabetes can cause insulin resistance – where the body does not respond normally to insulin so can’t take up the glucose that is needed. Sometimes, dopamine agonist therapy is combined with other therapies to treat pathologies including insulin resistance, such as bromocriptine. However, these are not very stable for clinical application and do not display good absorption. So, VeroScience LLC has developed a better treatment method for metabolic disorders.
VeroScience has developed a treatment in the form of bromocriptine citrate. The treatment can be taken orally and contains citric acid as a carrier or vehicle for the bromocriptine. This enhances its heat and water stability, extending its shelf-life and reduces production cost. Circadian rhythm can be restored when the medication is administered at a certain time of day by resetting the timing of neural activity which can help control the long-term effects of insulin resistance, prediabetes, and type 2 diabetes, among others.
