South Carolina Patent of the Month – April 2024
EmeryAllen, LLC, a privately held company in the lighting industry, has been granted a patent for their latest invention, a miniature light emitting diode (LED) light bulb. This innovative LED bulb, with its unique combination of features and functionalities, represents a significant advancement in solid-state lighting technology.
At the heart of EmeryAllen’s invention is a carefully engineered LED light assembly housed within a compact envelope portion. This assembly consists of a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) hosting a plurality of LEDs, each electrically and thermally connected to form an LED array. The FPCB, with its folded configuration, allows for optimal utilization of space within the envelope while maintaining efficient heat dissipation, essential for maximizing LED performance and longevity.
What sets this LED bulb apart is its remarkable luminous efficiency, achieving a minimum of 45 lumens per watt. This means that EmeryAllen’s LED bulb produces more light output per unit of electrical power consumed, translating to significant energy savings for consumers. Additionally, the bulb boasts a power factor of greater than or equal to 90%, ensuring efficient utilization of electrical power without any wastage.
EmeryAllen’s LED bulb is designed to meet stringent performance standards, including a color rendering index (CRI) of at least 90 and a nominal correlated color temperature (CCT) of less than or equal to 4000 Kelvin. This ensures that the light emitted by the bulb accurately renders colors and provides a comfortable, natural lighting environment.
In terms of durability, this LED bulb is built to last, with a rated lifetime of at least 15,000 hours. This longevity, coupled with its dimmable functionality and low flicker modulation, makes it an ideal choice for both residential and commercial applications.
Emery Allen’s LED bulb is designed for ease of installation, with a compact form factor that allows it to fit seamlessly into existing light fixtures. Whether used indoors or outdoors, in homes or public spaces, this LED bulb offers versatility and performance that exceed industry standards. With its combination of energy efficiency, durability, and high-performance features, it promises to redefine the way we illuminate our homes and spaces for years to come.
