BIG 6 LLP was founded with the intention of protecting families. From tornadoes to Active Shooters, secure shelter can be the difference between safety and danger. With such a range of dangers, BIG 6 decided a single solution would be most effective. From this idea, they designed, developed, and patented a single solution vault.
Their protective vault moves between two key stages – open and closed. This collapsible design allows the vault to be stored without taking much space, but rapidly opened for protection. A hydraulic damper and spring assist is included to reduce the opening force, making the set up as smooth as possible. The structure is built with ballistic protection panels, lighter than steel while able to absorb bullets and ricochets. While this next level protection ensures nothing unwanted can get in, a built-in 5 directional vent with 360 degree spin ensures a reliable and fresh air source in case staying safe in the vault takes a while.
Schools are often told to protect against tornadoes by having children hide under desks and avoid windows. These solutions do not really protect anyone from flying debris. With the collapsible vault’s design, children and teachers are protected from any debris or falling structures. The material also prevents electrical conductivity for further protection without blocking and cell signal so you can call for help. Safety is the key factor for BIG 6, so their vaults are designed to meet EMA 453 active shooter ballistic requirements and certified F-5 Tornado protection from FEMA P-361 specifications.
