South Dakota Patent of the Month – January 2023
High pressure manifolds, commonly referred to as missiles or manifold trailers, are a critical component in hydraulic fracturing applications. They are used to aggregate high-pressure fracturing fluids from multiple hydraulic fracturing pumps, and direct the consolidated high-pressure hydraulic fracturing fluids towards the wellhead. However, the missiles currently in use are subject to a significant amount of stress due to the harsh environment in which they operate, and leave a lot to be desired.
Aladdin Capital, Inc. has solved this problem by introducing its modular multiport pod missile. This system includes pipe sections which are securable together to form a conduit for fluid transport. A pod is secured between two of the pipe sections, and each pod has a set of input ports that extend radially outwardly at an angle from its perimeter.
The input ports are angled so that the high-pressure fluid flowing through the input ports merges with the fluid in the conduit in the same direction of travel. This design allows the high-pressure fluids to enter the respective section of pipe at an angle of less than 90 degrees, which reduces stress on the system and increases its longevity.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
