Washington Patent of the Month – May 2021

You hear it all the time – good posture is important. Due to our upright posture, humans have an S-curved spine. Not only does the backbone provide upright standing, and two-legged movement, it also provides connection from the brain to the nervous system. Considering the delicate nature of the spine, even light damage can lead to chronic pain or paralysis. And everyone is right – posture is very important to living a long-term comfortable life. Creatrix Solutions has designed a device meant to help improve and maintain posture.

We spend a lot of time in repetitive positions and doing repetitive tasks – from sitting at our desks, to twisting and reaching. They designed a cushioned fulcrum back shaper to help support and guide the back of the neck. They created two components, one which supports the curve of the back, and one supports the spine and the neck. The devices are used during stretching or exercises, placed on the floor and helping to guide the spine in the best position to train and support posture. The apparatus can also be set up with a seat-belt to help strap the shaper against the user in the right position which can be used in upright exercises and support form. Through committed use, these shapers can help improve posture and reduce chronic pain.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses?
