Wisconsin Patent of the Month – February 2023

The invention of treadmills revolutionized the way people approach fitness, training, and medical therapy. It offered people the chance to walk or run at any speed within a limited space, leading to significant benefits for people with mobility challenges. Today, treadmills come in various shapes and sizes, and companies continue to innovate and improve the technology.

One such innovator is Woodway USA Inc, a company that specializes in the production of high-quality treadmills. The company has recently been granted a patent for their treadmill lighting system. The light sources are strategically placed across the treadmill frame and console, illuminating the machine during use. The lights can be controlled by a console and changed to different colors and brightness levels based on the user’s data. This means that users can customize their workout environment, creating a more engaging and motivating experience.

Moreover, Woodway has also included a sensor to detect the user’s position relative to the longitudinal centerline of the running belt. This technology ensures that users maintain the correct posture and position during the workout. The sensor triggers the light sources on the console, indicating the user’s position, making it easier for them to adjust accordingly.

This new feature offers a simple but effective way to personalize a fitness routine. By providing a personalized, engaging environment, users can push themselves further and stay motivated throughout their workout.
