Wisconsin Patent of the Month – May 2022

Arable land is a diminishing commodity. A growing population means more agricultural output is needed despite this reduction in available land. Unfortunately these parameters are related. As the population grows, suburbs and houses expand and take up land. THe increased population and industrial activities also limit the available arable land. Demanding more yield from less land also stresses the soil and surrounding area, which means soil nutrient exhaustion and poor irrigation further limit the capability of the limited arable land.

Earth Purified, LLC has set out to develop a system to optimize the use of remaining arable land while going further to cleanse, enrich, and reclaim non-arable land for an improved agricultural future.

Their reclamation method uses embedded subsurface pipes to deliver water with proper irrigation along with nutrients to support environmental regrowth. The waterflow washes contaminants out of the soil using a series of water processing technologies. The water streams in, treating the land before passing into a drainage ditch around the land’s periphery. The water can then be collected, cleaned, and recycled to continue removing contaminants for even greater sustainability. This can bring life back to even the most used soil, creating both more arable land and greater yield.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
