Wyoming Patent of the Month – May 2022
A bezel is a grooved ring which holds a glass or plastic cover of a watch face in position. They can also hold a crystal or gemstone in its setting. Bezels are often highly customized with special serrations or castellations to properly hold the stone or object in place. Because of these highly customized designs, manufacturing a bezel can be particularly challenging.
BezelEase, LLC was formed from a family with generations of blacksmiths and wheelwrights. Their expertise in lapidary and jewelry making arts have guided them to the innovation of a reliable bezel making device.
The precision tool is engineered to create the desired castellated and serrated bezels. The first side of the device has crenellated edges while the back plate has a series of merlons. The bezel material is positioned between the front and back plates while tension is applied. The pressure applied ensures each castel or serration is perfectly applied. The plate can be repositioned as needed and spacers applied to accommodate different sized bezels and patterns. The slots are positioned so that you can achieve 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, and 6mm increments based on the desired bezel dimensions. This device simplifies bezel manufacturing without limiting the precision or variety needed for custom jewelry.
