Indiana Patent of the Month – December 2022

Whether you’re on a roadtrip or beginning “Van Life”, most recreational vehicles (RVs) have some type of cooking appliance installed. However, the interior design often limits space and makes cooking awkward, at best. From spills to odors, cooking becomes more of a nuisance than anything. Steiner Enterprises, an OEM in Indiana, has designed an outdoor accessory meant to make cooking more fun.

Most outdoor cooking appliances – such as a grill – need to be stowed when not in use, retrieved for every meal, and are known to be both inconvenient and cumbersome. Steiner’s design is mounted within a side wall for easy access and storage. Anchored to the wall, a rotating support member allows the stove to be rotated into and out of the storage box. A gas spring maintains the position, supporting the appliance during use while an extendable leg provides additional support.

Steiner Enterprises is a one-stop shop for contract manufacturing. Their commitment to innovation has helped propel companies into the future, bringing novelty and cost reduction to nearly any design.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
