Michigan Patent of the Month – December 2022

SlurryMonster, LLC has been in the concrete industry for nearly 20 years. With just about two decades of experience under their belt, the company is fully aware of the mess and damage that slurry can cause. Slurry is a watery mixture of insoluble matter including mud, lime, plaster – or concrete. Without a proper method of removing and managing slurry, it can clog pipes and devastate waterways. SlurryMonster has tackled this problem, developing the SlurryMonster system which offers a total slurry solution including solidification, dewatering, and recycling. This type of solution only comes from a commitment to innovation, which has recently led to a patent for their slurry water filtration and recycling system.

Their system includes an external machine which collects solid particles and water. This solution moves through the system, passing through two filters to produce a primary and secondary water solution. The secondary water recycles to the beginning of the system in a closed loop. A recycling machine has a clean water tank which cycles water through the entire system. A separate tank holds dirty water.

The system is powered by a series of actuators and only one operation can be performed at once. Actuators and vacuum pumps are used to create positive or negative pressure environments to create pressure or suction, moving the water in the intended direction.

Slurry is dangerous because of the silica, cadmium, and many other pollutants in concrete slurry which raise the pH levels and create a toxic environment. to properly handle slurry waste, one must comply with all State and Federal regulations, and include a management, containment, and disposal plan. SlurryMonster has built themselves up to be the only dedicated, end-to-end slurry management company in the nation.
