Ohio Patent of the Month – March 2023
Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes chronic musculoskeletal pain and can be accompanied by other symptoms such as fatigue, memory difficulties, and mood issues. There is a need for a non-pharmacological treatment that can help alleviate these symptoms, and photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) is a promising option.
PBMT is a type of therapy that uses light to stimulate healing in the body. It can be applied through a light source device that is placed on the skin near the tender area. Multi Radiance Medical is an inventor of a photobiomodulation therapy light source device specifically designed for the treatment of fibromyalgia.
The device features a cluster of light delivery sources arranged in a ring configuration, with a super-pulsed infrared laser, red light emitting diodes (LEDs), and infrared LEDs. It also includes a permanent magnet that provides a constant magnetic field and a processing unit preprogrammed with a time duration for application of the light signal.
The device works by delivering a light signal to the tender area through the skin, which stimulates a phototherapeutic response. This response can help reduce the symptoms of fibromyalgia, such as chronic pain, fatigue, and mood issues.
PBMT is a non-invasive and non-pharmacological treatment option that can be used alone or in combination with other therapies, like stress management and exercise. It provides a safe and effective way to alleviate the symptoms of fibromyalgia, improving the quality of life for those who suffer from this condition.
Multi Radiance Medical’s Super pulsed Laser Technology is in the safest classification of lasers and its efficacy has been validated in vitro, in vivo, in controlled laboratory experiments and in clinical practice. A Scientific Monograph entitled The Pillars Paper confirms this to be not only statistically significant, but clinically significant technology. It also raises the bar in the industry from evidence-based research to translational research. Multi Radiance Medical is also currently involved with over 30 Clinical Studies Worldwide.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
