Texas Patent of the Month – June 2022
Molecular Rebar Design, LLC (MRD) is focused on the development of a breakthrough form of carbon nanotubes, called Molecular Rebar ®. Carbon nanotubes have been used in energy storage, water filters, thin-film electronics and more for over a decade. This wide range of application is achieved by the sheer range of nanotube parameters. The targeted or selective oxidation levels can be adjusted along with the content of the tube walls to meet different needs.
MRD has taken their expertise with these nanotubes and developed a treatment composition that can effectively treat contaminated soil and groundwater. This method has been achieved using carbon nanotubes with little to no inner tube surface oxidation. This discrete nanotube design can be used for mediated and controlled delivery of degradative enzymes. The use of these enzymes can help remove dry-cleaning compounds that may have contaminated soil or groundwater.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
