Virginia Patent of the Month – June 2022

Corsha, Inc., an API Identity and Access Management platform that secures machine-to-machine communication and adds automated MFA to APIs, has recently patented their machine-to-machine streaming authentication of network elements. This system allows the dynamic, multi-factor authentication for these machine-to-machine connections.

As technology grows and advances, security and authentication methods must also grow. Traditional multi-factor authentication solutions act as an additional authentication factor for human accounts, but unfortunately do not apply to machine-to-machine connections – such as API-based authentication. For this reason, Corsha set out to develop an automated authentication approach that wouldn’t rely on human action to complete.

The system they developed uses a unique authentication stream of chained, cryptographic blocks or codes through the generation and management of a root-authentication stream of chained cryptographic blocks that represent an enterprise.

APIs power nearly all of your applications and services and yet API keys and tokens, even PKI, are getting leaked all the time. Corsha’s authentication system is meant to provide clear visibility – and control – over the machines accessing your APIs. With control, comes greater protection against any system that leverages machine-to-machine API communication.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
