Florida Patent of the Month – December 2022
Medication-based treatments are no simple process. The patient first needs to be diagnosed, an appropriate medication selected, and then a safe dose prescribed. But different dosing regimens are going to have different effects based on dose quantity, interval, duration and so on. Determining the appropriate dose regimen is crucial to properly caring for a patient. Baysient, LLC is focused on developing the technology needed to improve patient outcomes by developing dosage regimens on a per-patient basis.
This patient-specific dosing technology uses real patient’s clinical characteristics and a patient’s blood test to determine their response to a drug. A Bayesian model-based algorithm then assists in producing an individual dose. This individual dose is precise, reducing the time needed to find a truly safe dose regimen and taking the guesswork out of medicine.
By using a database of real-world patient clinical characteristics, the model is supported by rich data to produce patient-specific dosing regimens. The use of Bayesian models allows for forecasting and predicting of patient outcomes, analyzing varying regimens rapidly. The right dose at the right time is critical for any patient living with a disease.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
