Idaho Patent of the Month – August 2023

Those new to the world of firearms often face some apprehension around firearms without safety switches. This leads new users to stray away from strikers, which are often built with different safety features in place of a safety switch. In order to bring more options to these new users, Vigilant Gear, LLC has developed a Safety Selector Assembly—a cutting-edge solution to ease users’ worries.

The Safety Selector comprises a safety housing, a safety selector switch with an actuator and a stem, and a safety selector shaft with a cam surface. As the safety selector switch moves within the housing’s channel, it engages with the cam surface on the selector shaft, creating a seamless connection.

The Safety Selector Assembly offers several optional enhancements to bolster firearm safety. From configurable connections to the firearm slide to the integration of spring seats, every detail is meticulously engineered to ensure optimal functionality and reliability.

Vigilant Gear was founded in 2011 with the intention of being a one-stop shop for escape and evasion, everyday Carry, and unique survival gear. Vigilant Gear’s Safety Selector Assembly is more than just a safety mechanism—it’s a step towards responsible firearm handling and a peace of mind for gun owners of all levels of experience. This design can be configurably attached to nearly any striker, allowing for new users to get that sense of safety while working with the gun of their choice.
