Louisiana Patent of the Month – July 2022
WiseEye Technology, LLC have been developing trail cameras for years, focusing on innovating these devices to better track and observe wildlife. Gathering footage of animal patterns and movement can help in predicting animal movements and guiding hunts. As a part of this tech suite, the company has designed a species pattern evaluation system to go along with the trail cameras.
By tracking the movements of specific species, like deer, their populations can be evaluated and used to support and improve hunting regulations. The system is equipped with cameras and artificial intelligence (AI) to identify deer from a series of images. The AI utilizes spatial relationships between points to create an image scale and identify specific metrics associated with deer. This includes gender identification and a repeat matching technique to see if an individual deer is identified multiple times.
More granular data, such as weather data pulled from a local weather station at the time a picture is taken, can help create even greater insight into what brings certain animals to life. For instance, deer may poke out after rainfall, while you are less likely to see them following a storm. Other weather factors may also affect their patterns. The system is designed to automatically and reliably sort this granular data, providing illustrative data so that you can see patterns by the hour, day, week, month, temperature, wind speed, and more.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
