Kentucky Patent of the Month – July 2025
A new patent has been granted to LOGICMARK, INC. for an advanced fall detection system. U.S. Patent No. 12354456, titled ‘Method and system to improve accuracy of fall detection using multi-sensor fusion,’ details an innovation that could reduce false alarms. The system uses multiple sensors to verify a fall. It aims to provide more reliable alerts for users and their caregivers. This technology could mark a significant improvement in personal safety devices.
How the Technology Works
The system is a smart and personalized solution. It combines input from motion, height, and force sensors. The technology doesn’t rely on just one signal. This multi-sensor approach reduces errors. A processor assesses these signals against a set threshold. It then automatically adjusts based on the wearer’s typical activity level. This “learning” feature allows the device to distinguish a true fall from normal movements. An alert is only issued when a fall is confirmed by a minimum number of sensors.
This method offers greater accuracy. It promises peace of mind for older adults. It also helps workers in hazardous environments. The innovation moves beyond simple panic buttons. This new system offers intelligent, responsive protection for those who need it most.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
