North Dakota Patent of the Month – December 2025
Lawn maintenance is entering a new era of efficiency thanks to a clever hardware breakthrough that eliminates the need for multiple heavy tools. Homeowners and professionals can now combine two essential tasks into one seamless motion, saving both time and physical effort. The newly patented technology from Trimyxs LLC allows users to trim and edge their lawn while they mow.
U.S. Patent No. 12484476, titled ‘Deck mountable string trimmer attachment assembly’, details a versatile system that secures a secondary cutting tool directly to the mower.
A Unified Solution for Lawns
Traditional landscaping often requires a two-step process: first mowing the main lawn, then returning with a handheld string trimmer for edges. This invention changes the workflow by mounting a trimmer assembly directly onto the mower deck. The design features a specialized mounting bracket and an adjustable arm. This setup holds the cutting head at the perfect height and distance. Users can now reach fence lines and garden borders without leaving the driver’s seat or picking up a separate tool.
Enhanced Versatility and Ease
The assembly is designed for broad compatibility and user convenience. It uses a robust mounting system that fits various mower styles, from push behinds to zero-turn models. The adjustable arm allows the trimmer to pivot, ensuring the cutting line reaches difficult angles with precision. By integrating these tools, the invention significantly reduces the vibration and back strain associated with traditional handheld trimmers. This professional-grade solution streamlines property management and ensures a clean finish in half the time.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
