Kansas Patent of the Month – September 2024
Digital Ally Inc.‘s latest innovation offers fleet managers a powerful tool to enhance driver safety and performance through real-time monitoring and analysis. This advanced system integrates video footage with metadata from vehicle trackers, capturing incidents like abrupt stops or speeding. The data is embedded into video frames and sent to a driver analysis engine, where it is used to generate a detailed driver profile. Fleet supervisors can access these profiles, which include real-time video and incident reports, to assess driver behavior and ensure compliance with safety standards.
What sets Digital Ally’s system apart is its ability to provide a comprehensive risk assessment for each driver, known as a driver score. This score, based on real-time incidents and comparisons with other fleet drivers, helps managers quickly identify potential risks. Additionally, the system can recommend customized training modules using the video footage and metadata to address specific driving habits.
By incorporating GPS data, the system also offers precise location mapping for each incident, giving supervisors a clear view of where and when incidents occurred. This map-based interface allows for easy incident review and more informed decision-making. In case of discrepancies, the system ensures data authenticity through a proximity tag worn by the driver, which links the video and metadata directly to the individual.
Digital Ally’s invention offers fleet operators a robust, automated solution for monitoring and improving driver performance, reducing accident rates, and lowering liability risks—all while enhancing overall fleet efficiency.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
