Georgia Patent of the Month – November 2024
Enviroscent, Inc. has revolutionized the world of fragrance delivery with its innovative aggregate article design, merging scientific precision with sensory delight. This breakthrough offers a consistent, long-lasting release of scents while addressing the limitations of traditional fragrance devices. At its core lies a matrix of scent reservoirs paired with a cutting-edge modulating coating that ensures optimal fragrance diffusion under a variety of conditions.
The scent reservoirs, crafted from porous materials like wound paper or ceramic chunks, hold a volatile composition that delivers the fragrance. Enviroscent’s unique modulating coating, a blend of a barrier substance and a hygroscopic agent, is the game-changer. The barrier substance, such as liquid starch, controls the fragrance release rate, while the hygroscopic agent, like a silica suspension, attracts moisture to facilitate controlled diffusion. This pairing ensures a steady release of scent without overwhelming intensity or premature depletion.
Designed for durability, the modulating coating withstands temperatures up to 120°C, making it compatible with heat-enhanced devices. Unlike conventional systems prone to structural breakdown under heat, this innovation retains its integrity, ensuring consistent performance even during prolonged use. Additionally, the coating’s careful composition allows for customization in scent release profiles without altering the character of the fragrance.
Beyond its technical brilliance, this invention emphasizes practicality. The modular, heat-resistant design makes it suitable for homes, commercial spaces, and specialized environments. With a commitment to eco-conscious design, Enviroscent demonstrates how innovation can harmonize performance, sustainability, and user satisfaction, setting a new benchmark for the fragrance industry.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
