Oklahoma Patent of the Month – March 2025
Haus Bioceuticals, Inc. recently secured U.S. Patent No. 12,247,054 B2, titled “Curcumin-peptide conjugates and formulations thereof.” This breakthrough boosts the bioavailability of curcumin, a key challenge that has limited its medical potential. As a result, the innovation could expand curcumin’s role in health and wellness products.
How the Rice Protein Complex Works
The company’s new formulation links curcumin to rice protein, creating a stable and soluble complex. This design increases curcumin’s absorption in the body. Furthermore, rice protein serves as a natural and biocompatible carrier, enhancing the supplement’s delivery efficiency. Thanks to this pairing, curcumin can now reach its target areas more reliably.
Real-World Impact for Wellness Products
Curcumin, best known as the active compound in turmeric, offers anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. However, its limited bioavailability has prevented consistent results. Now, this curcumin-peptide innovation could transform its clinical use. It paves the way for more effective dietary supplements and functional foods. Consequently, it may support better management of inflammation and oxidative stress.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
