Arizona Patent of the Month – October 2025
A newly patented technique promises a massive leap forward in energy efficiency and high-speed electronics. This innovation focuses on creating Extremely Low Resistance (ELR) films that conduct electricity with minimal energy loss. The technology has the potential to revolutionize everything from power infrastructure to advanced computing. This breakthrough details methods for fabricating high-performance superconducting components.
Innovation in Layering Technology
U.S. Patent No. 12437900, titled ‘Extremely low resistance films and methods for modifying or creating same’, describes a unique layering process. Ambature, Inc. is the company behind this advanced R&D. The method involves coating a crystalline ELR film with a modifying material. Materials like chromium, bismuth, or copper are used in this process. These modifying layers dramatically improve the film’s operational performance. The method can create alternating layers of the ELR material and the modifying metal. This nanostructuring approach boosts the electrical characteristics of the material.
Real-World Power Impact
The ELR films often use advanced materials such as mixed-valence copper-oxide perovskite. This compound is known for its superconducting properties. Improving the conductivity of such materials is a critical challenge. Ambature’s technique offers a reliable path to solve this. Highly efficient films translate to better power transmission lines. They also mean faster, cooler processors for next-generation data centers. This patented technology moves industry closer to a world powered by loss-less electricity. It marks a significant milestone in material science.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
