Iowa and the R&D Tax Credit
The Iowa Research Activities Tax Credit rewards eligible corporations and flow-through entities for performing qualified research activities within the state. Based on your provided information, this credit is fully refundable, meaning no carryforward is necessary. Additionally, businesses awarded under the Enterprise Zone or High Quality Jobs Programs by the Iowa Economic Development Authority can claim a Supplemental Research Activities Credit. This provides an extra 10% for companies with gross revenues under $20 million, or 3% for those exceeding $20 million, calculated using the same methodology.
