Kentucky Patent of the Month – October 2024

LogicMark‘s innovative monitoring system is designed to revolutionize the care of individuals by integrating advanced environmental sensors and a care analytics management processor (CAMP). This cutting-edge technology uses a network of sensors to monitor the environment of a person under care, whether at home or in another setting, offering enhanced safety and responsiveness.

The system’s key feature lies in its dynamic interaction between the sensors and the central processor. Each sensor, embedded with an elastic repository, captures and stores real-time data about the person’s environment. When an edge condition—a deviation from normal—occurs, such as a fall or unexpected movement, the system automatically activates the sensor, which then transmits vital data to the care processor. The processor analyzes this data to determine whether it signals a legitimate concern or a false alarm.

If the system detects a true emergency, an alert is sent to the carer via text, phone call, or other messaging formats, ensuring a quick response. The system even adapts to its environment, with sensors communicating to adjust their detection thresholds, offering continuous optimization.

What sets this system apart is its ability to create a 3D map of the surrounding area using radar, LIDAR, or other active emission devices. This technology ensures that the person’s environment is constantly monitored, providing precise data on the location and status of objects or individuals within the space. This means that the system is not just reactive but proactive, continuously updating to better support the person under care.

By seamlessly integrating intelligent sensors with real-time analytics, LogicMark is advancing the future of personal care, enabling better monitoring, quicker responses, and ultimately, a safer environment for individuals in need of assistance.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?

The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
