Louisiana Patent of the Month – March 2021

Light towers typically consist of a base, boom, and light section. Repositioning these towers usually requires lowering the light tower, moving the base, and lifting the tower again. This process has to be followed even for small adjustments in placement. Options for rotating light sections are available but are structurally limited. Boss LTG, Inc developed a light tower with a rotating light array which is more easily repositioned and does not require rotating the entire structure.

The structure is made of a primary vertical boom attached to a base. A second boom supports a light section. The second boom connects to the primary and allows rotation of the light section. An actuator is connected to both booms to control the rotation. The simple design provides enough support for the light section that repositioning the entire structure is safe. The dual boom mounting allows for easy rotation of the light section to direct light as needed.
