Massachussetts Patent of the Month – September 2024
Neurable has pioneered a groundbreaking brain-computer interface (BCI) that combines neural activity and eye-tracking technology to enhance how users interact with digital interfaces. This innovation opens a new frontier for controlling computers and devices using brain signals, creating a seamless and intuitive human-machine interaction experience.
At the heart of the system is its ability to record neural signals through EEG sensors and track eye movements simultaneously. When a user focuses on specific control items displayed on a screen, the system analyzes brain activity and eye movements to determine intent. The advanced algorithms classify the neural signals and calculate the probability of user intent based on visual focus, enabling precise selection of commands or actions.
Neurable’s technology is transformative for a wide range of applications. It has the potential to revolutionize assistive technology for individuals with disabilities, offering them the ability to control computers and devices without traditional input methods like keyboards or touchscreens. Additionally, it promises to enhance everyday user experiences by enabling hands-free interaction, which could be useful for gaming, virtual reality, or even industrial settings where hands-free control is critical.
The BCI also adapts in real time, learning from user behavior to improve accuracy and responsiveness. As the user engages with the system, the machine learning model refines its understanding of neural signals and eye-tracking data, ensuring an increasingly personalized and efficient experience. Neurable’s invention is a leap forward in BCI technology, offering a fast, accurate, and scalable solution for controlling digital interfaces with the mind.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
