Michigan Patent of the Month – October 2024
In a world striving for seamless mobility, Cybernet Systems Corporation introduces a groundbreaking innovation in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology. This invention redefines how AVs and manually operated vehicles (MVs) coexist, communicate, and navigate shared roadways. By integrating advanced sensor systems, real-time communication networks, and shared driving protocols, this invention ensures not just autonomous navigation but also intelligent collaboration within complex traffic ecosystems.
The AVs leverage dual-sensor systems for precise location tracking and environmental awareness. Equipped with GPS, LIDAR, RADAR, and computer vision, they create dynamic 3D models of their surroundings, enabling obstacle detection and adaptive route planning. Beyond independent operation, the true breakthrough lies in the seamless communication among AVs, MVs, infrastructure devices, and even pedestrians. Vehicles exchange data on traffic conditions, positional updates, and road hazards, fostering a synchronized flow that minimizes delays and accidents.
Central to this system is a unified set of driving rules, updated in real-time via a shared documentation process. This ensures consistency in behaviors like lane changes, intersection navigation, and emergency maneuvers. AVs are further enhanced with specialized capabilities, including package handling, autonomous parking, and even coordinating with refueling systems.
Manually operated vehicles are not left behind—this invention equips them with communication interfaces to participate in the intelligent network. This cohesive design bridges the gap between autonomous and traditional vehicles, creating a safer, more efficient transportation paradigm.
By harmonizing autonomous technology with human-driven vehicles, Cybernet Systems Corporation’s invention charts a path toward smarter cities and sustainable mobility. It transforms roadways into interactive environments where every participant contributes to collective safety and efficiency, embodying the future of intelligent transportation.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
