Missouri Patent of the Month – March 2025
Hearo Technologies has unveiled a groundbreaking kitchen safety innovation: the “Smart Temperature Detection and Alarm System,” protected under U.S. Patent No. 12,243,405. This AI-powered device monitors cooking appliances like stoves and ovens, aiming to prevent fires and accidents by issuing timely alerts when temperatures exceed safe thresholds or when appliances remain on longer than expected.
Adaptive Alerts for Enhanced Safety
The system continuously tracks appliance temperatures, activating visual and audible alarms if unsafe conditions are detected. A user-friendly snooze function temporarily silences alerts, but the system reactivates them after a set period, ensuring ongoing vigilance. Notably, the device employs machine learning to analyze user interactions, adjusting alert thresholds over time to minimize unnecessary notifications while maintaining safety.
Seamless Integration Across Appliances
Designed for versatility, the system features dual components that can synchronize across multiple appliances. This means a single alert can notify users of issues on different devices, such as a stove and a detached oven, providing comprehensive kitchen monitoring.
With the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,243,405 on March 4, 2025, Hearo Technologies reinforces its commitment to leveraging AI for everyday safety solutions. This innovation represents a significant step forward in preventing kitchen-related hazards through intelligent, adaptive technology.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
