Montana Patent of the Month – July 2024

Go Fast Campers, LLC, creators of the first modern wedge camper, has secured a patent for their vehicle tent technology.

The design, tailored for truck beds, integrates a sophisticated frame assembly made of extruded aluminum, ensuring durability and lightweight performance. The tent’s core is the platform assembly, featuring an upper and lower platform portion connected by a robust hinge system with interlocking gear teeth. This allows the upper platform to rotate smoothly, transforming from a compact position parallel to the lower platform into an angled setup, maximizing interior space.

A unique feature is the fabric cover, which stretches between the platforms to create a weather-resistant enclosure, providing comfort and protection from the elements. The structure’s flexibility is enhanced by several side and end panels, also rotatable, enabling versatile configurations based on user needs. These panels, supported by lift struts, ensure effortless opening and secure closing, while additional clamps firmly attach the tent to the truck bed, offering stability even on rugged terrains.

The inclusion of a honeycomb panel within the platform adds strength without adding weight, and the removable accessory track allows for customizable storage solutions, enhancing the camping experience. The careful engineering of the hinge mechanisms, with rounded projections and water-directing features, ensures smooth operation and longevity, reflecting Go Fast Campers’ commitment to quality and user-centric design.

This rooftop tent system not only simplifies camping logistics but also elevates the outdoor experience, merging innovation with practicality. Whether for a weekend getaway or an extended expedition, Go Fast Campers’ invention stands out as a versatile and reliable companion, embodying the spirit of adventure and the promise of comfort.
