Nevada Patent of the Month – December 2025
A breakthrough in medical monitoring is set to change how doctors track heart health and fluid levels without invasive surgery. SeeMedX, Inc. has secured U.S. Patent No. 12502092, titled ‘Bio electric impedance monitors, electrode arrays and method of use’, for a portable device that uses specialized sensors to peer inside the body. This innovation provides real-time data on cardiac performance and lung fluid, potentially preventing hospitalizations for millions of heart failure patients.
Smart Sensors for Precision Care
The system uses a unique tetrapolar electrode array that adheres to a patient’s torso or limbs. These sensors send harmless electrical signals through the body to measure bioelectric impedance. By tracking how these signals move, the monitor identifies changes in extracellular fluid and heart rhythms. This technology allows clinicians to detect volume overload much earlier than traditional methods.
Bridging the Gap in Heart Monitoring
Current diagnostic tools are often expensive or require risky internal sensors. The new SeeMedX design simplifies the process with a patient interface circuit that converts standard signals into high-precision data. The device is compact and portable, making it ideal for both hospital bedside use and remote telehealth monitoring. This accessibility ensures that patients receive life-saving adjustments to their treatment plans from the comfort of home.
A New Standard for Patient Outcomes
By providing immediate insights into cardiac output, the invention empowers medical teams to act fast. Faster interventions reduce the strain on healthcare systems and improve the quality of life for those with chronic conditions. This advancement marks a major step forward in non-invasive medical technology and personalized cardiovascular care.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
