Oklahoma Patent of the Month – February 2025
In the world of pipeline commissioning, precision matters. ZEVAC has developed a breakthrough apparatus that redefines how gas lines are purged and filled—eliminating guesswork and minimizing environmental impact. Traditionally, introducing gas into an air-filled pipe results in a lengthy process to achieve the right gas-air ratio. ZEVAC’s invention streamlines this by automatically determining the optimal pressure to evacuate air and precisely calculating when to stop, ensuring the pipe is primed for gas introduction with scientific accuracy.
The system pairs intelligent pressure measurement with a dynamic evacuation process, using values tied to time and internal pressure to find the perfect negative pressure threshold. Once this pressure is reached, evacuation halts, and gas is introduced, continuing until a target refill pressure is met. It’s not just smart—it’s adaptive. The system can toggle compressor configurations between series and parallel to optimize pressure differentials based on real-time needs.
This invention transforms how utilities approach pipeline activation. It’s cleaner, faster, and more consistent—achieving the desired gas concentration with minimal waste and no unnecessary venting. By automating pressure-based control, ZEVAC takes the human error out of critical transitions in pipe servicing. It’s not just a tool—it’s a leap forward for operational safety, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure intelligence.
Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
