Rhode Island Patent of the Month – December 2025

AIDANCE SCIENTIFIC INC has secured a significant breakthrough in dermatological science with its latest patented technology. U.S. Patent No. 12485142, titled ‘Silver oxide formulations’, introduces a new method for stabilizing potent antimicrobial agents. This innovation allows for highly effective topical treatments that remain cosmetically appealing. By overcoming the aesthetic hurdles of traditional silver-based products, the company is set to transform how we treat skin infections and wounds.

Brightening the Future of Skin Care

Silver has been a staple in medicine for centuries due to its powerful ability to kill bacteria and fungi. However, silver oxide often leaves dark, unsightly stains on the skin and clothing. The researchers at Aidance Scientific have solved this problem by combining silver(II) oxide with specific concentrations of zinc oxide. This precise mixture neutralizes the dark pigments, creating a cream that is both effective and white.

A New Standard for Topical Healing

The patent describes a unique delivery system where active minerals are intimately dispersed within a carrier medium. This structure ensures that the silver oxide maintains maximum contact with the skin surface. Unlike older formulations that lose potency or change color over time, this new blend offers a stable shelf life. It provides a reliable option for patients seeking over-the-counter relief for stubborn skin conditions without the mess of traditional ointments.

Real-World Impact on Global Health

Beyond aesthetics, the formulation is designed for high-impact clinical use. The “Activated Minerals” technology targets pathogens while supporting the natural healing process of the skin. This advancement could reduce the reliance on prescription antibiotics for minor infections. As a result, this patent represents a major step forward in accessible, high-performance skincare for families worldwide.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?

The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
