Soteria Battery Innovation Group Inc. has been granted U.S. Patent No. 12315935 for its latest innovation, titled ‘Battery with metallized film current collector having low internal resistance’. The technology aims to make lithium-ion batteries both safer and more efficient by redesigning one of their most critical internal components.
Thin Films That Prevent Battery Fires
At the heart of this invention is a current collector made from a metallized polymer film. Unlike solid metal foils, this thin film can isolate internal short circuits before they escalate into thermal runaway. That means fewer battery fires and safer operation in high-demand environments like electric vehicles or consumer electronics.
Efficiency Without Compromise
The new design also reduces metal use by up to 80%, helping make batteries lighter and more energy-dense. Despite the lower metal content, the batteries retain high electrical performance, keeping internal resistance low while maintaining strong output at higher discharge rates. This translates to longer run times and better reliability under stress.
Real-World Applications Coming Soon
