Strateos Brings Remote R&D to Life

Strateos, a California startup might have the solution to remote R&D. With the events of the past year, many employees and workers experienced a “work from home” lifestyle. Some industries had a much harder time – especially those in R&D, who needed to be in the lab to work on their projects.

They have developed the Smart Lab to allow life science researchers to conduct experiments and analyses from anywhere in the world. With the use of robotics, the SmartLab platform connects a remote R&D team to one of two SmartLab Studios. Each of these labs are fully equipped with advanced research instruments for use in drug discovery, cell and gene therapy, and synthetic biology processes. Each of these tools and instruments will be operated by a fleet of robotics and automated workflows. Researchers can control or customize these workflows, removing the physical labor and without requiring a physical presence. Strateos recently had a successful series B funding round, bringing $56.1 million in to continue development of the SmartLab platform.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
