Wyoming Patent of the Month – July 2022
Vacuum Technologies, LLC, a Wyoming-based vacuum equipment engineering company, has developed a cyclonic vacuum separator without any motor or air moving device. Cyclonic separation refers to the method of removing particulates from an air, gas or liquid stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation. By creating high speed, rotating airflow – a cyclone – which pulls debris and particles through the center, up, and out the top of the cylindrical airflow.
The design is a cyclonic vacuum separator designed to be used in car wash vacuum systems. Positioned above the car in the vehicle vacuuming bay to capture large particles as well as dirt and debris. This way, these large particles can be recaptured rather than getting stuck or clogged in a normal vacuum. This is especially helpful for protecting the turbine – the heart of the vacuum system.
Fabricated using injection molding techniques, the separator is designed with an air discharge pipe, single-hand openable dump valves, and a cavity in the main body. The bottom has an opening with downward facing air inlets. The shape forces air to be pulled into the interior cavity in a cyclone. The dump valve can seal the bottom opening. The design and implementation of a cyclonic separator can readily extend the lifespan of filter separators, reducing their maintenance costs.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
