The world has seen a transition from pads and tampons to menstrual cups. These cups offer an environmentally and cost friendly alternative to traditional period products. Casco Bay Molding, the industry leader in FDA-registered menstrual cup production, has recently patented their design for their menstrual cups.
Their design is made from a single contiguous mold and is produced from a high-temperature resistant thermoplastic rubber. The disc-shape includes a hinge-enabled invertible rim that exposes finger loops when in the elongated position, allowing for proper cleaning of the device.
The device has a half spherical dome catch that is collapsible and is enclosed within the rim section during use. This allows for ease of insertion, proper placement, retrieval, and removal. The rim section also provides two finger loops that are retractable and wrap into the underside of the rim when the device is in an inverted shape. The rim section is made of an elastomeric material that is compressible, making it easy to insert and remove.
Casco Bay Molding uses medical grade materials, including USP Class VI silicone that undergoes biocompatibility testing. Fabricated with injection molding technology, the white label design can be readily adapted to suit any company’s brand, continuing to offer a truly sustainable option.
