Massachusetts Patent of the Month – April 2024

Brownmed, Inc‘s latest invention, the ambidextrous compression glove, is set to revolutionize the way we address inflammation, swelling, and pain in the hand and wrist. This innovative glove combines comfort, flexibility, and therapeutic effectiveness in a single design.

At the heart of this invention is a unique therapeutic pad integrated seamlessly into a flexible outer sleeve. This pad is strategically positioned to target specific areas of the hand and wrist, ensuring optimal therapy delivery. What sets this glove apart is its ambidextrous design, allowing users to wear it on either hand with equal effectiveness.

The therapeutic pad itself is constructed using a thermal retaining material, offering the option of heat or cold therapy based on the user’s preference or treatment needs. Whether it’s soothing warmth for stiff joints or refreshing coolness for swelling, this glove provides versatile relief tailored to individual requirements.

The glove is designed for practicality and usability. The integration of the therapeutic pad into the outer sleeve ensures stability and comfort during wear, eliminating the need for cumbersome attachments or adjustments. Additionally, a double fourchette seam and gusset along the lateral sides enhance durability and fit, preventing pinching or binding.

Brownmed’s ambidextrous compression glove represents a significant advancement in assistive devices for hand and wrist therapy. Its innovative features, including the integrated therapeutic pad and ambidextrous design, make it a versatile and practical solution for addressing inflammation, swelling, and pain. With this invention, Brownmed continues to lead the way in developing innovative healthcare products that prioritize both effectiveness and user experience.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?

The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
