Delaware Patent of the Month – May 2024
Supercritical Fluid Technologies, Inc. is advancing the chromatography field with their innovative new system, designed to simplify and expedite the process of cartridge interchange. The breakthrough lies in their uniquely engineered cartridge adapter system, which allows for rapid switching between chromatography cartridges of varying thread sizes and configurations. This versatile adapter integrates seamlessly with both the chromatography cartridges and the system, ensuring a secure and efficient connection.
Supercritical Fluid Technologies has been aiding the nutraceutical industry for years, operating as a full-service company. Every product developed is meticulously crafted and field-tested.
The heart of this innovation is the dual interchangeable coupling components, each tailored to accommodate cartridges with different thread diameters. This design allows users to effortlessly switch between cartridges by merely detaching one coupling component and attaching another, significantly reducing downtime and increasing lab efficiency. The adapter’s coupling retainer, featuring a keyway aperture and retainer slot, ensures that each interchangeable coupling component is securely locked in place with a simple sliding action, providing both stability and ease of use.
What makes this system truly stand out is its user-centric approach. The ability to change cartridges without detaching multiple connections streamlines the workflow, minimizing the potential for error and contamination. Furthermore, the system’s compatibility with a variety of gases, including supercritical fluids like carbon dioxide, broadens its application range, making it a versatile tool in analytical and preparative chromatography.
Supercritical Fluid Technologies’ novel chromatography system not only addresses the common challenges of cartridge replacement but also enhances the overall user experience. By prioritizing quick interchangeability and secure coupling, this innovation sets a new standard in the chromatography industry, promising to save valuable time and resources in research and industrial applications.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
