Oklahoma Patent of the Month – June 2024
Human Mode, LLC, a robotics company, is tackling the realm of virtual reality (VR) with a newly patented Authoring System.
This innovative system projects a mixed reality environment to a headset with ease, allowing non-experts to build their own virtual reality environments and bring their own dreams to life.
Users interact within this VR space through an intuitive action menu that displays pre-defined action scripts. These scripts, modules of computer code, are designed to modify the properties of objects within the VR environment. By dragging and dropping these scripts onto objects, users can seamlessly update their virtual surroundings, creating dynamic interactions without the need for extensive programming knowledge.
The invention addresses the complexity of traditional VR programming, making it accessible to a broader audience. This device allows for the identification and manipulation of objects either before or after user inputs, adding a layer of flexibility. Furthermore, it supports trigger conditions, enabling objects to respond to specific events within the VR world, enhancing the interactive experience.
Human Mode’s invention is a significant leap towards democratizing VR content creation. By simplifying the process of developing and editing VR environments, it empowers users across various fields—from entertainment to education—to harness the potential of VR technology. This innovation not only reduces the cost and skill barriers but also encourages a more widespread adoption of VR, promising a future where virtual worlds are crafted with ease and creativity.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
