Kansas Patent of the Month – August 2024

SoftWarfare, LLC, (SOFTwarfare) experts in cybersecurity, has developed a cutting-edge system that seamlessly integrates biometric security into the management of complex workflow processes. This innovation is designed to enhance the security of data transfers across networks, especially in environments where regulatory compliance and data integrity are paramount.

At the core of this system is a sophisticated biometric authentication mechanism that leverages data from various biometric inputs, such as fingerprints, facial recognition, and retinal scans, to verify user identity. When a user initiates a data transfer request, the system first assesses the security level associated with the request. Depending on the assessed risk, the system may prompt the user for biometric authentication, ensuring that only authorized individuals can execute high-risk or sensitive operations.

The system also performs a dual comparison—matching the biometric data of the user against stored profiles and validating the device used for the request against a list of pre-approved devices. This two-tier verification process significantly reduces the likelihood of unauthorized access, even if biometric data is compromised.

SOFTwarfare’s system continually learns from each transaction. It stores and analyzes the authentication data and device information to update threat profiles and improve security measures over time. This adaptive capability ensures that the system remains resilient against evolving cyber threats, providing robust protection for workflow processes in industries ranging from finance to healthcare.

By integrating advanced biometric authentication with intelligent workflow management, SOFTwarfare’s invention offers a powerful solution for organizations looking to safeguard their data in an increasingly digital world. This system not only enhances security but also streamlines operations, making it an invaluable tool for managing sensitive and critical data transfers.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?

The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
