California Patent of the Month – September 2024

IXI Technology Holdings, Inc., a technology company focused on solutions for militaries and defense companies, has developed a state-of-the-art anti-drone weapon that effectively counters modern unmanned aerial threats. This portable, lightweight system is designed to disrupt drones by targeting their communication and navigation systems, rather than relying on traditional kinetic attacks. Weighing less than 6 kg, the device is easy to deploy in the field, making it ideal for tactical operations where mobility is key.

The invention features a sophisticated combination of three antennas—double helical, quasi-yagi, and directed log-periodic—each capable of operating across a wide range of frequencies from 400 MHz to 6 GHz. This versatility enables the weapon to jam signals from various sources, including GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou, effectively neutralizing both remote-controlled and autonomous drones. The system’s operational range of up to 1,000 meters allows users to engage drones from a safe distance, while its ability to detect threats at distances up to 3.2 kilometers ensures early intervention.

Incorporating a power supply, processor, and control panel within its ergonomic housing, the weapon is designed for ease of use. Its compact form includes intuitive features like a stock and a barrel, providing the familiar feel of a traditional firearm. However, instead of bullets, this weapon disables drones through advanced electronic disruption, representing a critical leap in counter-drone technology.

IXI Technology’s anti-drone weapon provides military, law enforcement, and security personnel with a highly effective, non-lethal option to neutralize airborne threats in an era where drone warfare is becoming increasingly prevalent.

Are you developing new technology for an existing application? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify).
