South Dakota Patent of the Month – February 2025
Quality Wood & Metal Designs has unveiled a revolutionary display solution tailored for elongated items like fishing rods, rifles, and golf clubs. At the heart of the invention is a triangular prism-shaped support, providing unmatched structural stability and guiding a slidable rack system. The rack itself glides smoothly along the support’s inclined u-shaped channel guides, aided by a precisely engineered wheel system. This innovative design isn’t just about movement—it’s about secure, versatile presentation.
The slidable rack features a triangular base, a vertical V-bent member, and dual arm assemblies equipped with strategically spaced notches. These notches grip and balance displayed items with a calculated distribution of force. The first arm’s notches pull items inward, the second pushes outward, and the base subtly props the lower end—together stabilizing the item in a near-vertical stance without the need for bulky fasteners.
What truly sets this apart is its modularity. With mounting options like hooks or z-clips, retailers can easily install the system on walls or shelving units. The triangular geometry maximizes space efficiency while offering a dynamic way to slide, access, and showcase multiple items simultaneously.
By marrying form with function, this patent-pending display device redefines how specialty products are presented and accessed—delivering a clean, organized, and interactive retail experience. It’s not just a rack; it’s a precision-crafted platform engineered for both beauty and utility.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
