Georgia Patent of the Month – October 2025
A major advancement in industrial quality control has arrived, promising to revolutionize the manufacturing of essential components. This new technology shifts bearing ball defect detection from slow, manual scrutiny to high-speed, AI-driven automation. The core innovation lies in the system’s ability to automatically identify surface flaws on critical spherical parts with pinpoint accuracy and unprecedented speed. This breakthrough directly addresses long-standing bottlenecks in the bearing and aerospace industries, where component reliability is non-negotiable.
Automated Precision and Speed
The system is secured by U.S. Patent No. 12436063, titled ‘Bearing ball inspection system’. It was assigned to Vallum Software LLC . This automated, non-destructive testing method achieves 360-degree inspection. A guided rail delivers the bearing ball to a precise inspection point. A rotating positioning wheel ensures high-resolution cameras capture the entire surface. Controlled UV or white-light illumination is critical for defect visibility.
AI-Driven Quality Control
The innovation’s true power comes from its machine learning model. This model executes instantly on a microprocessor, analyzing images to detect microscopic defects. It removes the need for human interpretation and eliminates fatigue-related errors. After analysis, an automated sorting mechanism directs the component to a “pass” or “fail” location. The system transmits inspection results instantly to remote computing devices. This integration elevates efficiency and maintains consistent reliability across high-volume production lines.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
