Nebraska Patent of the Month – April 2025
Grain Weevil Corporation has unveiled a game-changing robot that could eliminate grain bin entrapments. The new technology is covered under U.S. Patent No. 12269168 titled Inciting sediment gravity flow in piled grain.
Designed for Safety and Efficiency
Grain bins are one of the most dangerous areas on a farm. People can become trapped in shifting grain, often with fatal results. The Grain Weevil robot handles these risks by automating key tasks inside the bin. It levels grain, breaks up crusted layers, and maintains flow—all without requiring a human to enter.
Real-World Impact on the Farm
This compact robot is already being deployed in pilot programs and is available for pre-order across the Midwest. Deliveries are scheduled for this fall, just in time for harvest. By keeping farmers out of the bin, the robot not only improves safety but also reduces downtime and labor costs.
The Grain Weevil marks a major step forward in agricultural safety. It proves how smart engineering can solve dangerous, persistent problems in real-world environments.
