Sanford Health Launch Startup Program

Sanford Health wanted to encourage curiosity and learning among the health community. It had seen growth in even the most uncertain times of the pandemic and wanted to further stimulate this growth. So, it created a commercialization team that helps employees license their inventions and open businesses. Inventions created at Sanford Health are turned into products for sale through commercialization. This can lead to employees creating their very own startup business.

Sanford Health has worked with other major universities and institutions, such as New York University, the University of South Dakota, and John Hopkins Hospital among others. With the University of South Dakota, Sanford Health has helped develop a training program called the Technology Readiness Acceleration Centre (TRAC) for scientific entrepreneurs in South Dakota to learn commercialization, how to make a startup, and how to grow your new company.

Are you developing a new process? Did you know your development work could be eligible for the R&D Tax Credit and you can receive up to 14% back on your expenses? Even if your development isn’t successful your work may still qualify for R&D credits (i.e. you don’t need to have a patent to qualify). To find out more, please contact a Swanson Reed R&D Specialist today or check out our free online eligibility test.
