Indiana Patent of the Month – November 2025
Medical technology firm Curative Sound LLC is advancing regenerative medicine with a novel system for preparing healing therapies. This innovation uses precision acoustic energy to boost the therapeutic power of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). The patented method aims to enhance the body’s natural healing response to musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries. U.S. Patent No. 12465378, titled ‘Platelet-rich plasma activation system and method’, details this sophisticated approach.
Acoustic Activation Precision
The invention centers on a specialized housing containing a piezoelectric transducer array. This array is key to the system. It generates highly focused shock waves, which are then directed to a designated focal volume. A container holding the PRP is precisely positioned there. This design ensures that only the desired area of the plasma receives the therapeutic acoustic pulse. This non-chemical activation process is designed to standardize the way platelets release critical growth factors. This immediate release is essential for maximizing regenerative potential.
Efficiency in Regenerative Care
Conventional PRP treatments often rely on chemical additives for activation. The new system from Curative Sound LLC bypasses this step entirely. It offers a cleaner, more repeatable method. The technology provides clinicians with precise control over the therapeutic dosage. This makes the preparation process more efficient and consistent. Moving forward, this patented device is set to improve the standardization and accessibility of advanced PRP treatments.

What is the R&D Tax Credit?
The Research & Experimentation Tax Credit (or R&D Tax Credit), is a general business tax credit under Internal Revenue Code section 41 for companies that incur research and development (R&D) costs in the United States. The credits are a tax incentive for performing qualified research in the United States, resulting in a credit to a tax return. For the first three years of R&D claims, 6% of the total qualified research expenses (QRE) form the gross credit. In the 4th year of claims and beyond, a base amount is calculated, and an adjusted expense line is multiplied times 14%. Click here to learn more.
